Solutions Business Geographics :  GeoTAX™

GeoTAX is a comprehensive solution that standardizes addresses and appends accurate state, county, municipal place, and special tax jurisdiction information to customer address records. With tax jurisdictions constantly changing and new tax jurisdiction assignment requirements mandated by federal and state laws, the potential liability resulting from inaccurate tax assignment poses a significant problem. To ensure businesses utilize accurate address information for tax jurisdiction assignment, GeoTAX provides exclusive access to the most current taxation boundary information through a data update process that continually tracks and updates taxation boundaries nationwide

Most Current Municipal Boundaries

One of the biggest challenges in assigning tax jurisdictions is the continual changing of municipal boundary files. GeoTAX users have exclusive access to GDT's Dynamap/Municipal Boundaries database, the most current and accurate information regarding municipal tax boundaries nationwide. This database provides the most up-to-date information on the legal boundaries of incorporated places. The database tracks governmental boundary changes from new incorporations, annexations, de-annexations, mergers, consolidations, disincorporations, or dissolution of local governmental entities.

Special Tax Districts

Local tax geography does not solely encompass municipalities, but also includes special tax districts such as school districts, E911, fire district, transit, hospital, stadium, and a variety of others. These tax districts are not followed by the U.S. census or any governmental body. GeoTAX provides comprehensive coverage of special tax districts. We provide the most accurate method to match an address and determine whether it is inside or outside of special tax districts. Thereby we remove another, often troubling, area of local tax jurisdiction concern.

Supports Emerging Federal and State Legislation

GeoTAX enables users to match address data against physical street addresses and state supplied address listings such as those required by the Mobile Telecommunications Sourcing Act (MTSA). Organizations can download state-supplied address listings and use GeoTAX to build a matching file, which can be used to code addresses against the state-supplied file.

Supports State-supplied Address Listings

GeoTAX enables users to match address data against physical street addresses and state supplied address listings as required by recent state legislation. Communications services providers can download state-supplied address listings and use GeoTAX to build a matching file, which can be used to code addresses against the state-supplied file. With GeoTAX, these organizations can enhance compliance with all jurisdictional coding requirements of recently enacted state legislation.

Standardizes and Validates Addresses

GeoTAX processing begins with standardization of address records. GeoTAX determines if the address is complete according to official standards and adds a ZIP+4 Code to addresses. Consequently, the accuracy of the resulting geocode and the jurisdiction that is derived from it are optimized.

Delivers Proprietary Codes Utilized by Major Tax Compliance Vendors

By converting the FIPS output to a format that conforms to the required input used by tax compliance vendors, GeoTAX gives you a complete solution that can be quickly and easily integrated with these technologies

Runs in Batch, Interactive and Client-server Modes or Via Hosted Service

GeoTAX is available in client/server and interactive, web-enabled versions. Additionally, organizations can utilize GeoTAX through HotData, Group 1's hosted services.

GeoTAX Matrix
GeoTAX Matrix can successfully process a significant percentage of exceptions from GeoTAX. Consequently, organizations can optimize the number of high confidence tax jurisdiction assignments.
By assigning a buffer unique to each geocode, GeoTAX Matrix lets you determine the likelihood that a given location falls inside or outside of a given boundary. Organizations can make more informed and precise business decisions based upon the level of confidence assigned to a given location.
GeoTAX Matrix also incorporates Centrus' unique approach to conflation, the process of combining data from multiple data sources, in this case, the United States Postal Service (USPS) and GDT. Consequently, users have a larger database to match against, thereby increasing the number of matches that can be made by GeoTAX Matrix.

GeoTAX Personal Property Tax
Group 1's Softare's GeoTAX Personal Property Tax (PPT) is a complete solution for accurate, automated asset location and jurisdiction assignment. Using address-level geocoding to assign jurisdictions to asset address records, GeoTAX PPT reduces financial risks and regulatory liability, and saves businesses considerable research and resources. With GeoTAX PPT, businesses that pay property taxes based on the address location of mobile personal property assets and/or customer-leased equipment, can significantly reduce the number of misfiled tax returns.
