Centrus POP Boundaries data is based on
the Points of Presence locations from MapInfo. The term Point of Presence
(POP) traditionally refers to the switch locations of long distance (inter-LATA
or inter-exchange) telecommunications carriers that reside within a specific
geographic area. Centrus POP Points identifies the locations of all POPs in the
US to enable closest site determinations. There are currently 1,627 points of
presence in the US.
