   Created to accommodate a wide range of distributed applications, AddressBroker offers a rapid development path requiring limited function calls. For instance, build a corporate client/server application to make updates to your central data warehouse or a Web-based data entry product to cleanse incoming shipping addresses in real-time. AddressBroker can be used to quickly create batch applications, too.

Here's an example of how our technology is being used:
A satellite television company needs to provide its 3000 call center customer service representatives with a fast, reliable method for determining whether a prospective customer lives within its service area. They want a three-tiered Intranet solution using a Web browser, a transaction server, and back-end data processing server to handle the incoming requests. The company has created spatial polygon files that indicate "blackout" areas serviced by other organizations or areas in which service is not available. Using the AddressBroker Java client API, the company's developers write a Java GUI applet that executes in a Web browser. In a single request, the AddressBroker Server object can standardize a customer address and then evaluate whether the resulting geocode falls within the boundaries of the blackout polygon. If a customer is eligible for service, the customer service representative can use the Java applet to enter the customer's data into the corporate database.
